Sarah collaborated with fellow artist Anne-Mie Melis on a project called ‘Ffyngau’ exploring fungi mycelium as a sculptural material. Having spent time on a fungi cultivation course at Coed Talylan in the Bynnau Bryceiniog (Brecon Beacons), they did a residency together at The Garage Studio, Bristol in 2023
Later in the year they showed work from this time and performed ‘Ffyngau Incantations’ at Spike island Open Studios in 2023 which is a trilingual piece using Welsh, Flemish and English …. ‘a naming of things’

Sarah Rhys is an interdisciplinary artist and educator living and working between west Wales and Bristol.
Sarah is interested in reinterpretation of landscape, ecologies and folklore with a recent focus on the coracle- a small welsh river vessel.
She curates Oriel Archipelago a sometimes gallery in Llansteffan, West Wales.
