Walking with artists.

 

Join artist Sarah Rhys and curator Tessa Fitzjohn in exploring what makes  Portbury Wharf nature reserve unique, and recording aspects of one year of the  site for the Nature Journal.

Length of walk approx. 3 -4 miles

Suitable for age 12years and over...interest in arts and wildlife essential

Plan for the day: Meet at the lay-by on Sheepway (B3124) between Portishead and M5 J 19.

Limited parking

Meet with Warden Bernie Darcy at 12pm Tower Hide for 15 minute introduction then we will walk around the Nature Reserve recording in different ways the smells, sounds and sights of the place.

 

What you need to bring:

Picnic lunch and drink

Binoculars (if you have a pair)

Wet weather gear if rain likely

Wear warm clothes and bring plastic bag to sit on

Wear walking boots or trainers, likely to be occasionally muddy

Camera

Sketch book if you have one?…and art materials of choice. We will have a range of materials for people to use

      

Notes

There is information about buses and other ways of getting to the reserve on our website here - http://www.avonwildlifetrust.org.uk/reserves/portbury_wharf.htm.

There is limited parking and no facilities, other than one portaloo.

The nearest cafe I know of is The Hall and Woodhouse - http://halwoodhouseportishead.co.uk/ but it's not very close to the reserve.
